Today, in our part of Maine, we experienced a 99% solar eclipse. It was beautiful and eerie, and it was great hanging out with my family and our animals and observing it all.
I wanted to share this fantastic photo I took today during the eclipse. The light was so weird, so eerie, so beautiful. When I went to see what the chickens were doing, I saw the magnificent shadows of my Maple tree in our drive. Her shadows looked surreal, so I took a picture to try to capture it. I think it worked. The shadows look almost 3-D in this photo. Isn’t that wild?

I love that Maple tree and have taken so many photos of her. I am so glad to have this one of her shadows during the eclipse.
Beautiful. It certainly does look 3D in the photo.
Right? That was so wild. I heard from a friend that we may have experienced something called “shadow bands” during the eclipse, which is kind of rare, apparently. I’m researching it to figure out if that is what happened!
Very fascinating to experience.
