Resource Roundup for Homesteading in Small Spaces

teens, tomatoes, swaths, eggs, and cucumbers on a table

by Crystal Sands

I have learned over the years that it doesn’t take a lot of space to grow a lot of food. While any animals you have, such as chickens, need enough space to be happy, you can grow a lot of carrots in a tiny space. Potatoes grow in garbage cans. You can fill up a raised bed with a lot of strawberry plants. Dwarf apple trees remain small but produce beautiful apples. And it doesn’t take very many chickens to produce enough eggs for a family.

When we started homesteading, I spent time reading books about growing food in small spaces, but now, there are tons of resources online as well. I wanted to share some resources I have found or used that may give you a good place to start if you are hoping to get started growing food for your family but don’t have a big plot of land for doing it.

Good luck, and if you have questions, you can always drop me a line!
