We are excited to announce the expansion of our journal into educational courses!

This part of our project is really decades in the making. I have been a teacher for 24 years. In the last year, I have been searching for my art. My husband is a poet. My daughter is a writer. My son is a cellist. I long to paint pictures or write poetry or play an instrument, but one evening while I was working with my students on their dissertations, seeing the beautiful growth they had made as writers in just a few short weeks, I had an epiphany:

I grabbed my notebook and wrote these words: My art is teaching.

The courses in our little schoolhouse will focus on all things Farmer-ish: writing, drawing, watercolor, felting, making jam, chicken care, quilting, and more. Our first offerings will begin late spring and early summer and will focus on adult learners; however, by September 2021, our goal is to offer a small suite of Farmer-ish classes for children.

Please check back often as our course offerings and our team of fantastic teachers grow. You will be able to pay for courses through our site once our storefront opens in April 2021. However, if you would like receive an invoice and pay before our storefront opens to reserve your spot, please send an email directly to the journal at
